The Comprehensive Service

Seven steps. One ritual.

Every pair entering the workshop receives the same patient sequence — the foundation of every other service we offer.

Assessment of a worn brown leather brogue at the Spitshine workshop — the first step of the seven-step shoe care service i.

Assessment

Each pair is examined to understand its construction, condition and your requirements. Treatment plans are drafted before any work begins.

Cleansing a brown leather brogue with a horsehair brush and Saphir cleaner — step two of the Spitshine shoe care process ii.

Cleansing

Wax build-up removed. Suede shampooed. Welts cleaned, waxed and waterproofed. Honest leather, ready for treatment.

Saphir Médaille d'Or Sole Guard being applied to a leather sole — protecting the underside against abrasion and salt iii.

Sole Guard

A specialist oil applied to leather soles to reduce abrasion and limit the penetration of salt and moisture.

Heel edge being finished by hand against a wall of Saphir Médaille d'Or polish tins at the Spitshine workshop iv.

Edges & Heels

Sanded smooth, recoloured and polished. The detail most workshops overlook — and the one most visible on the foot.

Leather conditioning cream applied to a patina'd oxford on a wooden shoe tree, Saphir cream pot beside it v.

Nourishment

Conditioners specific to calf, suede, cordovan or reptile feed the leather and restore its suppleness.

Re-colouring the toecap of a brown oxford with pigmented Saphir cream polish to restore worn leather vi.

Re-Colour

Pigmented cream polishes feed the leather and restore the colour of every scuff. Factory technique, applied by hand.

Glaçage mirror finish being built up by hand on the toecap of a black oxford — the seventh and final step of the Spitshine ritual vii.

The Polish

Layered waxes for a finish better than new — and the protection that comes with it.

From Your Door, To Ours

Three steps. Door to door.

Book Online

Select your service, tell us about the pair, and we arrange a tracked courier collection from your address — anywhere in the UK.

The Workshop

We assess each pair on arrival and confirm the work with you. Specialist treatment follows, by hand, with Saphir Médaille d'Or.

Returned to Your Finest

Your shoes are boxed, photographed and dispatched back. Most pairs return within 7–10 working days.

Our Heritage

Our heritage is the parade ground. In the Grenadier Guards of the British Army's Household Division — the regiments who stand watch over the Sovereign — the standard for a polished boot is set higher than anywhere else on earth.

That standard travels with us into the workshop. Premium shoe care should be available to everyone — no matter how far from Mayfair, Paris or Tokyo you are.

Frequently Asked

Questions, answered.

How does the courier collection work?

Once you book, we email a prepaid, tracked shipping label. Pack your shoes in any sturdy box and book a free door collection — or drop at any local depot. We insure every pair in transit, both ways.

How long until my shoes are returned?

Most pairs are returned within 7–10 working days of arrival at the workshop. Patina, recolour and full restoration work may take 2–3 weeks; we will always confirm timelines on receipt.

Which leathers and constructions can you work on?

All of them. Calf, suede, nubuck, cordovan, reptile, exotic, oiled and waxy leathers. Goodyear welted, blake stitched, hand sewn — including bespoke. Our cobbler has thirty-five years' experience across the gamut.

Do you offer corporate or bulk services?

Yes — we run regular B2B accounts for hotels, members' clubs, retailers and private households. Visit our B2B page or write to us directly for terms.

What products do you use?

We work exclusively with Saphir Médaille d'Or — the gold-standard French house used by leading shoemakers. Specialist treatments are matched to your specific leather.
